Female Adeptus Custodes are now canon - a step closer to female Space Marines?

May the New Year bring prosperity to you and your loved ones. Wishing you joy and wonder each and every day.
Well, my last year's resolution to "hobby more" failed like so many New Year resolutions. My pile of gaming and hobby collection has grown more in the past year; apparently my new hobby is "collecting" plastic models and gaming miniatures.
If at first you don't succeed, try and try again! So I'll try to "hobby more" again this year. Considering how little lobbying I did last year, it should be an easy feat to accomplish.
I did manage to lose weight and get into the habit of exercising regularly again though. Nothing more important than your health. Wishing you all health and fortune in the Year of the Water Rabbit!

2022 Happy Lunar New Year!

Last year I made a new year resolution to 'hobby more'. While I didn't do nearly as much as I had hoped, I did mange to build a few custom Gundam models and started on my Space Wolf army with the Wolf Guard lieutenant, Haldora Icepelt, to lead the combat patrol :)

Turtles painted by flags_of_war!
So flags-of-war, a fellow member of the Lead Adventure Forum, painted up his set of the Ninja Turtles already!

Ninja Turtles Resin Cast Update
Yet another rather late and sporadic update ;)
The Miniatures has been cast and I've received them several months ago but it's just been sitting on my work table since then. I've just been too busy with work and family to do anything with them.
But I've finally started shipping out sets of the turtles miniatures to my friends.
Here's a in progress pic of the figures by flags_of_war posted over on the Lead Adventure Forum:
He's done some amazing paint jobs on his Ninja Turtles Project posted there: http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=76813.0
I'm really excited about seeing how these miniatures will look with his excellent painting skills!
So once I realized that many of you who have requested a set of minis are outside of the USA (where I reside), I looked into costs for international shipping. It turns out that it's ridiculously expensive to ship out an package internationally from here
For instance, shipping to the UK via USPS Priority Mail International Small Flat Rate Box costs USD$33.95
The cost of shipping is more than for the set of figures :(
If you are in Europe and interested in getting a set, members of the Lead Adventure Forums are arranging a group buy to offset shipping costs, so you might want to check it out: http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=82240.120

I got the usual question about the 'scale' of the figures, so I took some quick pics to show their size.
I also took some size comparison pics with the Heroclix figures as well.

Just a quick update.
I just started a new job last month so I've been too preoccupied to get any sculpting done lately.
The Ninja Turtles sculpt are currently in England being prepared for casting by Craig and Dale over at Critical Mass Games. It's a private commission between me and Craig, so please don't bother them directly about the Ninja Turtles casts.
Though you should definitely check out their awesome 15mm Sci-Fi game and figures :)

| All the master Moulds and the mdf to make five more of each as production moulds. The only deviation from this is the Mould for the bo. Which will be two production Moulds containing 3 staffs in each, this is to basically save rubber on such a tall thin piece. |

| From these they will make x5 master castings, clean them up and re Sprue them as before; this will then make x5 production Moulds and then they can begin production. |

| Notice the jagged cuts that will then make the key for the Mould. Also note the Moulds are not cut completely in two. They are only cut down to the furthest detail making a 'clam shell', eg for Leonardo it's the tip of the sword. This allows us to syringe resin right into the detail and allow the resin flow they push into the Mould to come back into main cavity (the air to flow out the Mould). |

Ninja Turtle sculpts on their way to the caster
I shipped out the greens of the turtles last evening to a professional resin caster. The sculpts are now on their merry way to be cast up :)
It's going to be about 6-8 weeks before the resin casts are all done and in my hands; say end of January, beginning of February. I'll keep you all posted.
In the meanwhile, time for me to go back to practice my sculpting and hopefully some gaming during the upcoming Holidays (you know the original purpose for sculpting these guys in the first place, before I got sidetracked with trying to get them cast up) ;)

Casting the Other Two Ninja Turtles
Got the remaining two turtles cast up.
Here's the first half of the mold in progress:

Fourth pull:
Overall a large improvement over the previous attempts at mold making and casting. I'm rather happy about how these casts turned out.
The one bad thing is that the mold for the katana didn't turn out properly; the casting of the katana blade is too thick and doesn't have the right blade geometry. I'm going to have to file them to give them the proper edges and point by hand.

While I was cutting apart the sai from the fourth pull, the exacto-knife cut right through the cast and sliced opened my left middle finger-tip :(
I had to go he hospital to get stitches for the wound. I need to go back to get the stitches out in a week.
It was a painful reminder to be very cautious when working with sharp blades and not to let familiarity make you careless with any potentially dangerous tool :(
