Here are finished pics of my entry for Koridon's "May Challenge" for Cystic Fibrosis awareness from last month.

I had lot of fun painting a figure for a change. It also made me realize that I really need to paint more.

No contest winner, but I'm glad I was able to get it done. I started a new job last month and I was busy flying back and forth between Seattle and San Francisco on business almost every week.

Things are starting to settle down finally, so hopefully I'll be able to get back to sculpting again and posting stuff again soon.

Basically I have until end of May to paint any one infantry type unit from any game, using purple and gold as the main colors with a rose somewhere on the model (the symbol for Cystic Fibrosis is a rose).

The roman numerals on the knee pad is "LXV" for number 65. Children often has problems saying Cystic Fibrosis' so they call it 'sixty five roses' instead for them.

W.I.P. More Female Marine Parts, Mech and a Female Commissar

A quick update on some stuff I'm currently working on.

First up are two more leg options for the female marines; kneeling pose and another assault pose. I'm working on one more assault type legs and torso with chest harness for the upcoming female assault marine set.

I recently had a bout of nostalgia and picked up the Battletech Introductory Boxset, which made me want to try sculpting mechs.

The female commissar is almost done.  I've started working on her weapon options already.

May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month

Time for me to brush up on my painting skills; it's been ages since I actually painted anything.

Howling Hounds (a.k.a. Manshees) are done!

I finished sculpting the Howling Hounds and shipped them out to Chapterhouse Studios this week.

This project has taken way longer than I had anticipated.  But I'm rather pleased at what I manage to achieve with the wacky idea of doing a male version of the banshees.

The pack was given their weapons and then their arms were removed to make them easier to cast.

 

I kind of dread this part since the process of separating the arms from the body inevitably results in some damage to the figure; which then requires touch up sculpting. 

 

Fortunately there wasn't any serious mess to clean up this time.

Female Marine Combat Squads are Ready to Go!

It took a long time but the female space marines resin castings are finally ready.

For those fellow gamers out there interested in getting your hands on some of these female marines for your own, Jacqualine47 has graciously offered to help in making them available to us.

Currently the available kit consists of 5 female marines, one of each sculpt as shown in the pic below:

In the Dark Grimness of the Far Future, there is Only War -- and Misogyny, apparently :)

One with torso/arms/legs, two with torso/legs, one separate legs/torso with plain breastplate, and one separate legs/torso with aquila -- plus five different un-helmeted head sculpts and five helmeted head sculpts that include two standard marine helmets, one company champion helmet, one beakie helmet, and one open-face helmet.

Thanks for your patience and continued support. I will be continuing to support this project by completing the assault squad set and sculpting additional figures and parts.

W.I.P. Female Marines: Size Comparison

Here's a size comparison pic of the female marines along with my so-called art-scale/true-scale marines.

These below are shown with the smaller helmets I sculpted for the female marines; which in my opinion helps with the art-scale look.

I'm trying to keep my art-scaled models to fit on the standard bases rather than the larger termie bases. The cork base I use while sculpting has a 25mm diameter.
